Scanprinters may be configured to issue Growl messages to multiple machines whenever there is a backlog of print jobs on a CUPs queue.

Setup Instructions

1. Download
2. Configure the options by editing the script
3. Copy the script to any machines with CUPs queues which you wish to monitor
4. Configure a scheduling application to periodically start scanprinters

What will happen

When a queue has a backlog of jobs which exceeds the limit defined within Scanprinters. a Growl notification will be sent via the network to the machines specified in within the script.

Requirements

Server

Scanprinters may be installed on any print server(s) you wish to monitor. However the server must have both Ruby and RubyGrowl installed.

Client machines must have Growl installed and also configured to receive incoming connections from this server via the network.
